December in Nashville is a lot colder than you would think.

So it looks like we haven't updated this in over a year.  Sorry about that.
Here are a few pictures I took today to show you what we've been up to recently.

We got our Christmas tree last Friday, and decorated it a few days later.  I had to get new lights or we would have done it sooner.  Jenny is there reading by the fire, on an antique settee we got a few months ago.

We also bought a new (new to us) dining room table last week.  Its was made in 1957, but it's in pretty good shape.  Here it is with one of two leaves and six of eight chairs.
Here's a good look at some of the Mid-Century elements that I think are so cool about this table.  It goes pretty well with our Mid-Century hutch over against the wall, although they're not from the same set.  Mom-mom's brass cross is on the wall by the door to the kitchen.

I decorated the house for Christmas.  We bought a wreath to put up in the gable, and I wanted to string it with white lights.  My ladder isn't tall enough, so I'll have to borrow one from a neighbor.  But it's almost halfway through December, so I may just put the wreath on the door.
Our concrete Uga on the front porch is wearing a wreath of garland.
Here's a giant spider that was on the sidewalk when I went out to take the picture of the front of the house.

Abbey had some lumps removed from her belly last week, so she had to wear a lampshade.  She doesn't really need it anymore, but I put it back on her to stage this picture.

Rosey didn't want to be left out, so she asked me to put this picture up.  She forgot she was in the picture of the dining room table.

Abbey flinching as Rosey smacks her with her tail.  I just thought it was too cute to leave out.

Honeymoon

Here are a few pictures from the weeks following the wedding. To say we were busy is an understatement! After a night in Old Town after the wedding and spending time on Sunday with family, Sean and I and the girls drove down to Smith Mountain Lake. We passed through Charlottesville on the way and of course I couldn't resist stopping and taking a few pictures on the Lawn. The lake was great but sadly we were only able to stay for a few days before driving down to Athens. There, we rushed to pack up the townhouse and load the moving truck in order to close on the house the following Monday, but managed to fit in some fun. Sean and I had a great time at the wedding of our friends Kate and Steven and particularly enjoyed the "parade" from the church to the reception through the streets of downtown Athens.

Wedding pictures

Thank you to everyone who joined us in D.C. for our wedding. We had an absolutely wonderful day, and that is entirely due to the family and friends who joined us to celebrate.

Our photographer, Matt Borchelt, posted all of our wedding photos online. There are a lot, but if you would like to look at them, here they are:

Nashville

Here are a few pictures from our latest adventures in Nashville.

Our friends Bill and Jill flew down to Nashville to spend the weekend. While sadly I don't have any pictures to post proving this right now, I do have one of Sean and me at the Jack Daniel Distillery in Lynchburg, TN. Here we are standing alongside the statue of Mr. Daniel himself. I promise Bill was taking the picture. We also had dinner on the Nashvegas strip of honky tonks and saw the Athens, Ga. band The Whigs play.

Sean and I also made a brief visit to the Grand Ol Opry hotel and resort. I had no idea -- it was huge and country music was coming at you from all directions. Sean had a blast and made some new friends (see below).
